Description:
This cabinet proved to be quite an interesting piece to build. It is built in the Egyptian Revival style with gentle tapered sides and front and has ten drawers with tapered fronts to hold the clients CD collection. Done entirely in Yellowheart for the exterior and yes that’s the natural color of the wood, no stain was added to the finish, with drawers in Maple. The cabinet is roughly 4 feet wide and about 4 feet high. The client specified the black drawer slides, I would have preferred to use a nice undermount slide that wouldn’t have been visible but he was concerned about the additional height they would have added to the cabinet and how that would have changed the proportions. The side and top panels are resawn Yellowheart veneer cut from the same lumber as the rest of the cabinet for a perfect color match.
