Puzzle in a Puzzle Display Cabinet

Description:
This drop mechanism puzzle cabinet was designed to display a custom wood and metal puzzle by Robert Yarger (aka stickman).  Currently it’s displaying a placeholder Satinwood block I made to allow the client to play with and solve the cabinet until the actual display puzzle arrives.  This piece has the most complex mechanical system I’ve ever built, incorporating a drop and lift mechanism that auto resets and stops in multiple stages as part of the solution, it was quite a challenge to design and build and took many revisions to the mechanism to get the repeatable functionality I want in all my work.  The client has a strong interest in the metal industry so I incorporated polished gold plated brass trim around each of the Satinwood panels, the overall effect is quite stunning in person.  There will be a video of the cabinet in action once the client has a chance to solve it.
