Harlequin Diamond Parquetry Cabinet

Description:
This is an entertainment cabinet in solid Jatoba that features parquetry veneer-work in a harlequin pattern of Madrone Burl and Maple diamonds.  The interior has four adjustable shelves and ventilation slots in the back and base of the cabinet.  The interior is veneered in Quartersawn Sapele and the cabinet is finished with Satin Lacquer inside and out.

This was my first exploration into parquetry veneer patterns but it was quickly followed by another parquetry piece for the same client.  The new piece, called the Zig Zag Cabinet was part of a large bedroom set for this client and has quite a different design than this cabinet.  The parquetry veneer pieces were cut in a similar manner and I was able to detail the procedure in an article for Australian Wood Review magazine due out in early 2012.
