Dogwood Flower Marquetry Cabinet

Size:
84″ high by 22″ deep by 49″ wide
Materials:
Wenge, Ash Burl, Curly Maple, and Quartersawn Maple
Description:
This is my latest marquetry piece done as a commission through one of the galleries that sells my work.  It also happens to be the largest marquetry piece I have built to date.  The marquetry imagery is of white Dogwood flowers and branches on an Ash Burl background framed in solid Wenge.  The  Dogwood flowers and branches flow from the top cabinet down across the counter and across all four front doors.  The interior is veneered in Curly Maple for contrast with the Ash Burl veneered exterior.  The entire cabinet is finished with satin Conversion Varnish.  The pictures really don’t do this piece justice; in person the vivid colors of the veneer and the size of the cabinet at just over 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide leave quite an impression as do the roughly 200 Dogwood flowers.  There are four Maple drawers in the lower cabinet, two that are visible and two more behind the lower drawers.
