Dogwood Blanket Chest

Mahogany, Curly Sycamore, Sapele, and various marquetry veneers
Description:
This was the first blanket chest I built featuring marquetry imagery of Dogwood flowers and branches.   The marquetry is on a curly Sycamore background and is framed in solid Honduran Mahogany.   The chest also has several inlayed Mother of Pearl and Abalone butterflies.   The interior is veneered in ribbon stripe Sapele for contrast with the outside colors.  I’ve since built a number of blanket chest using this design in a variety of materials.
