Cherry and Koa Marquetry Buffet and China Cabinets

These two pieces are the final parts of the dining set I began earlier this year; they stand along side the Carpathian Elm and Cherry Dining Set and tie into the overall theme of this house with the use of Calla Lily flower and dragonfly accents, both of which appear in numerous other locations throughout the home.  The Calla Lily marqurety was again done in all natural wood tones without the use of any dyed veneer to keep the feel natural and not overpowering.   Some interesting colors were brought into play in the butterfly and dragonfly inlays.  Both are done with a mix of various materials including Abalone, Mother of Pearl, Reconstituted Stone, Silver, and wood.  The buffet top is also decorated with a perimeter inlay of Ebony and Mother of Pearl.

Functionally these two pieces have numerous useful features.  The china cabinet has an upper lighted display space for showcasing fine china behind the glass doors, while the buffet has double layer silverware storage built into the second drawer.  Both units have shelves behind the curved doors.
